There are many theories and rumors around final fantasy 12, especially due to the change of leadership in full swing. One of these rumors has been shot down today.
Many fans, including the media, have long propagated the idea that Bash was originally supposed to be the game’s original protagonist, but Square Enix management reportedly pushed for Van and Penelo to take the lead role to help the game come to life. Connect with a younger audience.
Today, Twitter User Bee decided to directly ask Yasumi Matsuno, who initially co-directed the game, and Matsuno-san strongly denied the rumor, openly calling it a “false story”.

The rumor was originally born from interviews with the development team and was later spread by both the media and fans of the game. However, the wording in the interviews was rather vague, possibly meaning that the developers’ point of view was misinterpreted or lost in translation.
Matsuno-san was the original co-director of final fantasy 12 until his departure from Square Enix in 2005. He is credited with creating the world of Ivalice, which also served as the setting for previous games such as final fantasy tactics and vagabond story
The world’s legacy of Ivalicia was brought back by Matsuno-san himself in 2017 with the “Return to Ivalice” raids on final Fantasy XIV, of which he wrote the scenario. The popular race Viera was finally implemented as a playable MMORPG in 2019 with the shadow bearers expansion.
final fantasy 12 was originally released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and is playable on various modern platforms (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC) via zodiac age remaster that was released between 2017 and 2019.
