What do the Great Fairies do in Tears of the Kingdom?
Unlocking Great Fairy will allow you to upgrade your outfits. Each fairy you unlock will allow you to further empower a piece of clothing. These upgrades will require different components collected from all over Hyrule, as well as Rupees, but for the amount of damage you’ll be able to reduce, these upgrades are well worth it. With a single Fairy unlocked, you can power up your team once, but with all unlocked, you can power up four times. Certain outfits will also grant special outfit bonuses as they reach higher levels and activate when you wear all the gear pieces at the same time.
You can upgrade just about any outfit, including the various outfits that reference previous Legend of Zelda games, like the Tingle’s Hood, Champion’s Tunic, and an Ocarina of Time Ganondorf outfit.
What are the requirements to start unlocking fairy fountains?
The first thing that is required to start unlocking Fairy Fountains is that Link must be a member of the Lucky Clover Gazette. You can travel to Rito Village in Tabantha Hills (northwest region of the map) and visit the offices of the Lucky Clover Gazette in what is a converted stable.
Another prerequisite is that you will need the towing anchor for your horse or the ability to craft and propel vehicles capable of towing. To earn the Trailer Anchor for your horse, you only need to earn 3 Pony Points. You earn a Pony Point by registering a horse or visiting a new stable, so you should get it pretty quickly. A horse is needed for this questline, so register a good one.
Where are the fairy fountains at Tears of the Kingdom?
There are four different Great Fairies in Hyrule, their names are Tera, Mija, Cotera, and Kaysa. Unlike breath of the wildeach of the fairies in Tears of the Kingdom it requires more than rupees to break out of its bulbs. Each will want to hear a different instrument played as part of the search line.
You need to unlock Great Fairy Tera first, then you can complete any of the other Great Fairy in any order. Unlocking the Great Fairy Tera will also put the other Great Fairy on your map!
How to unlock the Great Fountain of Eldin Fairies? (Required to do first)
The Great Eldin Fairy Fountain is located just southeast of Great Hyrule Woods.. You can quickly reach it by teleporting to Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower. When you get close, Great Fairy Tera will talk to you mentioning several times that she wants to hear a violin played.

After speaking with the great fairy Tera, head south along the path until you reach the Woodland Stable. Here you will see a performance troupe outside. Talking to Mastro, you will learn that the wheel of his chariot, called Breezer, is missing. He fixes the wheels with nearby parts and tell the company that you will take them to the Fairy. Get your horse and attach the trailer harness and take them up the hill.
Once you reach the top of the hill, a cutscene will play and Great Fairy Tera will appear. You will get a purple rupee and you can start upgrading your armor.
How to unlock the Great Fountain of Faron Fairies?
Faron’s Great Fairy Fountain is located just east of Dueling Peaks and south of Dueling Peaks Stable.
Head to the Dueling Peaks Stable and you will find Mastro there. Talk to him to learn that the Great Hedge Fairy would listen to Beetz’s drum, but that he is no longer there. He claims that someone heard a drum beating to the north near Kakariko Village and Bonooru’s Stand.
Head north until you reach the location marked on the map, you will also start to hear drum music, talk to Beetz to find out that he is looking for some honey to make Mastro’s crepes. Head to the forest east of Kakariko village, near where the large chasm is, collect three pieces of honey, and return to Beetz. You will also get a silver rupee.
Return to the Dueling Peaks stable and talk to Mastro, who will tell you that the bridge is broken and we must cross the river instead. He creates a boat that allows you to take the whole company across the river.
When you get close enough, a scene will start where music will be played for the Great Cotera Fairy to appear. Now you will not only be able to further upgrade her equipment, but you will also be rewarded with a Silver Rupee.
How to unlock the Great Fountain of Hyrule Field Fairies?
The Great Hyrule Field Fairy Fountain is located in the southwest of Hyrule Field, right on the edge of the Gerudo area.
Head to the Outskirt Stable and you will find Mastro there. Talking to him, you will learn that Great Fairy Kaysa would listen to Pyper’s flute, but she is no longer there. Mastro claims that someone near Highland Stable heard the sound of a flute.
Head southeast to reach the Highland Stable at the point marked on the map and you will find Pyper playing in a tree. Talking to him, he will tell you that he needs to collect 10 sunset fireflies to make a glowing tree. Search the forest to the north at night to get the sunset fireflies. You can walk and catch them, but if you run towards them, they will run away. Return to Pyper and give him the fireflies. He goes into the stable and talks to Haite before taking her to the tree for the night. After a short scene, Pyper will return to the company.

How to unlock the Great Fountain of Strand Fairies
The Great Hebra Fairy Fountain is located in the north of the map east of the Hebra Mountains. You will see that it is on the eastern slope of the mountain from Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower.
Head to the Snowfield Stable and you will find Mastro there. Talking to him you will find out that the Great Fairy Mija listened to the trumpet of Eustus but that she is no longer there. Mastro claims that someone near Tabantha Bridge Stable to the south heard a sound like a horn.
Head southwest along the path until you reach a hole on the side of the road at the point marked on the map, inside the hole you will find Eustus. You will have to escape the hole with your wagon, talk to him again so that he gets on the wagon. I found the easiest way to get it out of the hold was to pick up the cart and place it down, climb to the mouth of the hole, and then use Recall to move the cart back to a place where I could grab it. After you save Eustus, he will hand you 3x Courser Bee Honey and head back to the Snowfield Stable.
Return to Snowfield Stable and talk to Mastro to hear that the Trotter needs a roof. He uses the nearby wood to create a roof and leads the Stable Trotters to the Fairy in the northeast.
