Bohemia Interactive today unveiled new gameplay for the upcoming hybrid between a real-time strategy game and a first-person shooter. Silica.

We can take a look at how the human faction plays, starting with the strategy part of the game which may very well remind you Dune either Star boat, which developer Martin Melichárek explicitly cites as sources of inspiration.

Base building and collecting certainly feel very familiar, but the game gets its own twist when we see the FPS part, where we can take control of a single soldier or vehicle on the battlefield. It certainly looks very attractive and promising and you can check it out below.

If you’re not familiar with Silica, it will soon be available in Early Access exclusively on PC. It was born several years ago as a solo project and recently under the wing of the Bohemia Interactive Incubator project, with the popular developer of the weapons supporting series.

Below you can read an official description of what you can expect.

“Silica is an FPS/RTS crossover where up to 3 factions battle for control of the planet Baltarus. Lead from the top as a Commander, or experience the action firsthand, either alone or with friends. Join one of two human armies , or pursue them as territorial aliens. Silica takes place in the scorching deserts of Baltarus, an exoplanet located thousands of light-years from Earth. Lead your faction to victory in Strategy, the flagship game mode. Harvest the Balterium hidden in the sands. or defend Baltarus from invading humans as a bug-like alien.”
