Today, Bethesda and id Software announced that after three years exclusively online due to the pandemic, QuakeCon is returning to its in-person roots.

According to the announcement made in the official developer sitethe event will take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, between Thursday, August 10, and Sunday, August 13, 2023.

The traditional “bring your own computer” LAN party returns “reimagined and updated,” while a full suite of programming will be available to enjoy and stream online on Twitch for those unable to attend.

With the focus on the BYOC event, there will be no showroom or general admission, with entry limited to pre-registered BYOC guests. A full schedule will be shared at a later time.

The announcement includes a statement from id Software studio director Marty Stratton.

QuakeCon is our favorite event of the year, and we can’t wait to finally see our amazing QuakeCon community in person again, hold games, and hang out all weekend with thousands of friends. During our first year ago, QuakeCon 2023 focuses on the fan-favorite BYOC and gamers who made QuakeCon the best gaming gathering for over 25 years.

Of course, you can expect coverage here at TechRaptorl, although the focus on the LAN party may mean that this year’s event may be uninformative. We’ll have to wait and see what the schedule looks like to assess that.
