Today, Bandai Namco announced that its free My Hero Academia battle royale game, My Hero Ultra Rumble, is returning with an open beta version.
The game dedicated to the popular anime and manga franchise was announced last year and had a closed beta in August, and then pretty much disappeared. Apparently the project is still alive and the next beta will take place between May 25 and June 1. Like the closed beta, it will only be on PS4 (the game itself was also announced for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC).
In fact, you can already pre-download the beta client from PlayStation Store.
The announcement was accompanied by a trailer, which you can watch below.
The open beta will feature some new characters in addition to many heroes and villains that appeared in the closed beta as follows:
- had iida
- Denki Kaminari
- itsuka kendo
- midoriya izuku
- katsuki bakugo
- Uraraka Ochaco
- todoroki shoto
- tsuyu asui
- all might
- mount lady
- tomura shigaraki
- himiko toga
- mr compress
As for previous games like the “My Hero: A Justiceseries “this game lost the”academy” part of the original title for the West, while in Japan it is called “My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble.” This is probably due to licensing reasons.
If you’re unfamiliar with the original IP, Kohei Horikoshi debuted as a manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen jump in 2014. It has since sparked the release of a full-length anime series, OVAs, and movies, in addition to multiple videos. games.
