Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new board game. The tabletop publisher has a rich history of releasing board games over the years. These include original works like the science fiction series. twilight empire as well as officially licensed titles such as arkham horror, Lord of the Ringsand Star Wars. Their latest title sees them return to the ubiquitous world of Marvel superheroes with the title wonder dagger.
Marvel Dagger details from Fantasy Flight Games
According to the post on official website, wonder dagger is a cooperative board game experience. One to five players take on the role of a Marvel superhero as part of the new Defense Alliance for Global and Galactic Emergency Response program. As his name implies, he must work with his teammates to stop various crises, amassing enough power and resources to stop the ultimate threat. There will be twenty playable heroes in the game. Each of these heroes is divided into pairs and is represented on one part of a double-sided character sheet. These couples include the Peter Parker and Miles Morales incarnation of Spider-Man, both Natasha and Yelena Black Widow, as well as Elektra and Daredevil.
Regarding the gameplay, wonder dagger emphasize combos and synergies. There are two types of tokens in the game: Empowered and Primed. If a hero has an empower token, it will help him succeed on an attribute check (or dice roll). A Ready token helps that hero attack an enemy. This is important as both of these tokens are resources for various combo abilities that the heroes have. Activating these combo abilities also progresses a teamwork track, which is used to activate more powerful abilities. Finally, there are six different heroic skins that can provide a different added depth. For example. Aggression allows you to deal more damage, while Determination allows you to roll extra dice to overcome difficult challenges.
Finally, there is the nemesis, the final challenge of a game of wonder dagger. A nemesis has different abilities that can make the heroes uncomfortable. An example given is the God of Mischief, Loki, who can fool heroes with Empowerment tokens with his Illusory Foes ability. Additionally, the nemesis has its own signature minion. In Loki’s case, it’s the Frost Giants. These abilities are linked to side quests called nemesis quests. If the heroes fail one of these quests, the nemesis becomes more powerful. Once three nemesis missions are completed, the final showdown begins.
Marvel Dagger will be released on June 30. It is currently available for pre-order at Asmode’s website for an MSRP of $89.99.
