The developers at Blizzard are working a bit behind the scenes, hell-bent on keeping you captivated for hours on end. What better way to feed your desire to play Diablo IV than through loot, with so many different ways to get it. The final activities in Diablo IV They are numerous and varied, but they can also seem a bit intimidating.
That’s where we’ve got you covered. Blizzard held an hour long Q&A to answer any and all questions regarding Diablo IVEndgame content. You can also check out our article on these endgame features along with a video from various developers explaining these systems. We had the opportunity to speak with the game’s associate director, Joseph Piepiora, and the game’s lead producer, Kayleigh Calder, to learn a bit more about what these features entail.
What is Diablo IV end game like?
To dive into the type of final content players can expect after reaching the level cap of 100 in Diablo IV, there are quite a few different activities. There is the option to increase the difficulty of the Diablo IV World: These are called world levels. With higher difficulty comes more loot, operating on the same principle as Torment in Diablo III.
In addition, Diablo III it had rifts, which incentivized players to overcome increasing difficulties to obtain more loot and complete their construction; Similarly, we now have Nightmare Dungeons. There are over 120 dungeon-based templates to encounter in the open world, with varying difficulties and objectives for players to return to.
Other systems include the Tree of Whispers, which gives players different rewards for completing, and thus grants currency that can be exchanged for better loot. There’s a PvP-focused zone called the Fields of Hatred, which will also award rewards based on performance and the number of “shards” you collect; be careful, as players may ambush you and take it for themselves. And of course, the Paragon system returns to further improve your final stats. This is not an exhaustive list, but it summarizes most of Diablo IVThe initial offers of the end of the game.
How the Diablo IV battle pass works
But what about the battle pass? When you have finished the main story and reached the maximum level, the battle pass will remain. With multiple battle passes planned throughout the life of Diablo IV — which is, by the way, a live service game — you can definitely look forward to developing these along with other endgame activities.
The so-called “fuel” to power the battle pass, as Piepiora describes it, is favor. Complete almost any activity in Diablo IV will grant that favour. There is also a “season trip” that grants favor for each pass, which has similar goals to Diablo IIIthe seasons. Overall, Piepiora predicts that the battle pass may take up to 80 hours to complete.
“We think it’s likely that players will finish the battle pass before they hit level cap for the season,” Piepiora said. “So we think there can be enough activities that guide the player towards the Battle Pass through the journey of the season and the other rewards they will earn, they will make natural progress as they play through that season.”
What to do in the open world of Diablo IV
As you explore this vast open world, you’ll complete more than just your battle pass. Many of these final activities take place within Diablo IVThe vast open world, although you might see some familiar places. While other games in the series were based on a procedurally generated overworld, Diablo IVThe environments outside of dungeons are set in stone. If players are going to spend hundreds of hours playing Diablo IVBlizzard wants to make things feel fresh and alive. Piepiora describes the overworld as a palette on which the Diablo IV the team can paint. Random activities will occur for players, such as random werewolf attacks or stumbling upon a missing child.
“So we’re going to keep playing around with that,” Piepiora said, “but right now, the best way to think about it is that we don’t just change the environment and just remove this forest and add this new path as part of it. That’s not It’s really the way we want to look at it, we want to see what are the things that we can do in this space that players already know, subvert their expectations and continue to iterate and improve these ideas.”
With that in mind, it’s easy to imagine a Diablo IV world that can change dynamically with limited-time events or seasons. like epic games Fortnite or even from Blizzard world of warcraft, this overworld described as a “palette” is ready for limited-time events. Only time will tell if this is the direction Blizzard wants to take with Diablo IValthough Piepora’s words bring to mind many possibilities.
Of course, there are some limited time events already implemented in this world. In fact, there are activities galore, including world bosses to fight. This group activity will bring together players from across the game world to take on a gigantic and all-powerful monster, but some players are likely to go a step further and fight these world bosses alone. If you don’t think that’s possible, someone already did it in the Diablo IV beta. The player who did this in the beta surely reached the maximum power available, so the question arises: what happens when players reach level 100 and fully optimize their build? Is there a ceiling that players can reach? Rest assured, Blizzard is watching.
“We’re super committed to seeing what the players are going to do,” Calder said. “Because despite all the planning and everything we can set up once we launch the game, it’s going to be really, really fun to see all the ways players approach the game and take all the tools we’ve given them and build characters and classes and things in ways we didn’t imagine they would and find really interesting combinations.”
Piepiora mentions the inclusion of a “pinnacle level challenge” in Diablo IV, which should challenge players even with the most refined and optimized builds. As Diablo IV is considered a live service game by Blizzard, more challenges should arise throughout the life of the game and provide ample obstacles for those who reach the top. It definitely seems like getting to the end of the game is in fact the true beginning for Diablo IV. With years of support planned, players are going to be working for a long time indeed.
